Reception Newsletter 05.12.16

      Term: Autumn 2                      Date: 05.12.16

Dear Parents,

      We hope you have had an opportunity to look at the EYFS blog and have seen our cooking photos.  We will continue to explore celebrations specifically looking at Christmas and preparing for our Nativity.
      We will be focusing on the text ‘Stickman’ this week and relate this to various areas of learning including maths and measure.

      Personal, Social and Emotional:
      Enjoys responsibility of carrying out small tasks.
       Can describe self in positive terms and talk about abilities
      To take turns and share with their peers.
                        
Communication and Language:
Responds to instructions involving a two-part sequence.
Questions why things happen and gives explanations.
Talks about why things happen and how things work

Physical Development:
Uses one-handed tools and equipment.
Shows increasing control over an object in pushing, patting, throwing, catching or kicking it.
Negotiates space successfully when playing racing and chasing games with other children, adjusting speed or changing direction to avoid obstacles.
      
Literacy:
      Suggests how the story might end.
      Listens to stories with increasing attention and recall.
      Joins in with repeated refrains and anticipates key events and phrases in rhymes and stories.
      
Mathematics:
Orders two or three items by length or height
Orders two items by weight or capacity.
Beginning to use mathematical names for 'solid' 3D shapes and 'flat' 2D shapes, and mathematical terms to describe shapes.

Expressive Art and Design:
Explores colours and how colours can be changed
Explores what happens when they mix colours
Uses various construction materials.



Understanding the World:
Can talk about some of the things they have observed
Remembers and talks about significant events in their own experience.
Recognises and describes special times or events for family or friends.
      
      Messages.
      Learning Challenge
      Each half term we will be setting our pupils a challenge related to their learning. We believe that it is important for us to provide guidance for parents on how their children's learning can be extended at home.
      The learning challenge will include either a nursery rhyme, famous person, illustration or a piece of music. Please talk to your child about the challenge and help them to engage in their learning. The children can choose how they present their learning challenge outcomes to their teacher or class.

Christmas Jumper Charity Day – Friday 16th December
Last Day of Term: Wednesday 21st December – 3.05pm

NB: We will be advising you with individual letters about what your child needs to wear for the Nativity, please speak to a member of staff if you have any queries.

End of Term Mini Report:

       Any
parents that are new to the school this school year,  should have received an email from inbox@2buildaprofile.complease read the email and
follow the instructions.  This will enable you to electronically receive
your child's mini report in the last week of term. If you have not received
an email first of all check your ‘Junk’ folder if not advise a member of staff.
