Reception Newsletter 25.03.19

Dear Parents and Carers,

The children all had a fantastic time at Jump Evolution last week and were all a little tired when they got back to school. The children loved recounting the trip and wrote some beautiful writing about it. Thank you to all our parent helpers, without you school trips would not be possible.

This week we will be reading’ Supertato’ as well as creating our own Mother’s Days cards. We will be rescuing carrots, catching peas and writing letters to The Evil Pea. Keep your eyes on the blog to see what we get up to this week.


Communication and Language
We are encouraging children to use talk to organise, sequence and clarify thinking, ideas, feelings and events.

Physical Development
As we continue to develop the children’s fine motor strength we are now also focussing on their letter and number formation as well. Particularly encouraging and correcting backwards formed letters and numbers.

Maths
This weeks number is 20. Perhaps you can spot the number at home or outside. We are back looking at 3D shapes this week, we will be recapping the names as well as the different properties.

Literacy
We will be writing Mother’s Day cards as well as letter to The Evil Pea. We will also be writing wanted posters to catch the pea!

Expressive Arts and Design
We are taking a different approach to Mother’s Day cards this year. We will be providing children with a range of ideas and of course resources. But they will be creating their own designs and making them independently. Every card will be different, and completely led by the child. We cannot wait to see how they turn out!
