Important information
Please read;
On Wednesday the 31st of January we have a mobile farm coming to visit the Nursery for the morning. Children in afternoon sessions are very welcome to swap their afternoon session for a morning session on this day. Morning sessions run from 8.30am and children are collected by 11.30am. Please speak to a member of staff asap to swap your session.
- We would like to say a big thank you to Tina from Hairport in Hornchurch, who has kindly donated £50 to Broadford Nursery to be used on the children. The nursery team will be careuly planning on how best to use her gift for the children.
- Nursery Stay & Play: Wednesday 07th February 2024. 8.45am & 1.30pm
- Parent meetings will take place February, letters to follow soon.
Notice:
The nursery team would like to remind parents:
Please leave a bag with a spare set of clothing at nursery. This bag should be a labelled drawstring bag or a carier bag.
As we do not have space for rucksacks, from January childrens rucksacks will be returned and belongings placed in a carrier bag. Rucksacks take up space on pegs making it challenging for the children to access their belongings.
We would also like to remind parents toys from home are not allowed in the nursery. They can be dangerous, cause incidents over sharing and the children become very upset when they get lost or damaged.
Thank you for your understanding
Book of the week:
This week the children have been listening to the book What the ladybird heard. The children really enjoyed naming the animals and discussing the story.
As part of our farm theme, the children have been busy, practicing their pencil grips, making marks and creating animal pictures in the art area.
The children have been exploring new vocabulary for langauge development within our small world area. This weeks farm focus has provided oppurtunities to lean new words and help extend our sentence lengths
Snack area focus:
This week the children have been experiementing with rice cakes, spreads and fruits to create faces as they try new things.
Focus play this week:
This week the children have been working on a listening and attention game where they respond to instructions. Each person chose an instrument and followed the traffic light system to shake fast, slow or stop playing according to the colour circle. By the end of the game the children had learned agrasped the idea of the game and had lots of fun taking turns and winning at the end.
Managing our emotions:
At Broadford Primary school we use The Zones of Regulation to support our pupils learning and understanding of how to identify and manage our emotions. Feelings are complicated. They come in different sizes, intensities, and levels of energy that are unique within our brains and bodies. To make them easier to talk about, think about, and regulate, The Zones of Regulation organizes our feelings, states of alertness, and energy levels into four colored Zones – Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red. The simple, common language and visual structure of The Zones of Regulation helps make the complex skill of regulation more concrete for learners and those who support them. We learn to regulate our Zones to meet our goals and task demands, as well as support our overall well-being. More information can be found using this link: The Zones of Regulation
At Nursery the children use their check in cards to place in the zones to help identify how they feel and get support with managing their emotions.
