Topic:
Jack and the Beanstalk
We read the book and sounded out and wrote some CVC words from the story into a large cloud. We played a Circle time game and passed a magic bean around the circle. When a child was holding the magic bean they spoke about what they would like to find at the top of a beanstalk.
We also watched this time-lapse video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w77zPAtVTuI and went through the life cycle of a bean discussing the changes that happen throughout the cycle.
Take a look at all of the fun activities the children completed this week:
Key vocabulary:
Jack, beanstalk, climb, chop, castle, giant, green, harp, hen, egg, golden
Maths:
This week we built on our understanding of capacity. We explored pouring and measuring water, sand and rice using various containers. We identified which container was full, half full and empty. We also looked at which container held the most and which held the least.
Key vocabulary:
Full, half full, nearly full, empty, nearly empty
Bags
Please could we ask that you do not send your child in with any other bag unless it is a packed lunch or it is their reading day. We have limited space for coat and bag storage and many items are becoming lost / damaged due to the high volume of bags. Thank you!
Mrs Marie, Miss Speirs and Miss Onabiyi
