Nursery: Autumn 2, Weeks 3 and 4 Learning

 Dear Parents and Carers,

As the second Autumn Term progresses we wanted to share some of the upcoming learning taking place in Nursery.

The themes for the upcoming weeks 3 and 4 of this term are linked to the following key dates:

  • National Nursery Rhyme Week (16th Nov)

  • Universal Tree Day 28.11.20

In week 3, we will be learning the following nursery rhymes (click on each of them to join in at home):

In week 4, we will be reading the high-quality picture book called 'Stick Man' by Julia Donaldson and creating a story map as well as joining in with repeated refrains. Whilst the local libraries are closed, here is a link to the Stick Man BBC IPlayer movie which you may wish to watch over Christmas (26 mins long).

We will continue to use ‘Tales Toolkit’ to support children to use language in an imaginative way and to start sequencing events. Find out more about this literacy scheme that is used as a learning resources across Broadford Primary School: https://talestoolkit.com/

In maths, this week we will be talking about what fruits we like and don't like to create a pictogram, like this:

We will be counting from 0-10 and back again. Encourage your child to count at home and join in the counting fun using mathematical nursery rhymes: https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/nursery-rhymes-counting-songs/zn67kmn
