Aspen Class meet the owls
The children thoroughly enjoyed the visit from Phil and his owls. We met many owls, but especially enjoyed meeting Ozzie, the friendly Boobook owl. These owls are named Boobook after the sound they make, a bit like a cuckoo, which Ozzie demonstrated for us. Our favourite was Zeus, the European eagle owl. He was an impressive bird. Zeus is more than capable of living to 30 years or more in captivity. He delighted us with his powerful flight demonstration. The children were incredibly gentle when stroking the owls and couldn't believe how soft they felt.
