Yesterday reception and nursery were extremely lucky to have the owl man into our school.
We met a Tawny Owl named Puff who had huge eyes, a Hawk Owl named Aussie who chases small birds for his dinner, a beautiful Barn Owl named Tito who was the oldest owl Phil had. When Tito flies, he flies in silence. The next owl we met was Scamp who comes all the way from Africa. He was a Southern Waxfaced Owl. His nickname was the 'Transformer Owl' because he moved so fast through the air. We met a little owl named Pod who was only 17 months old and finally an Eagle Owl named Isis. He was Phil's largest owl and thought of Phil as his mummy.
We were lucky enough to feel one of the Barn Owls. The children described the owl as 'soft, fluffy, smooth, cuddly and silky.'
Evie recognised that some owls are camouflaged and as a result of her answer Phil asked Evie if she wanted to put on the special glove and get the Hawk Owl Aussie to land on her arm. She was a natural!
What a lovely, interesting morning we all had!
