Nursery Newsletter 13.06.16


Term:  Summer 1                          Date 13.06.16

 

Our final topic of the year is Traditional Tales.

 

We will be reading Goldilocks and the three bears and we will be singing various songs in preparation for our Graduation.

 

Our phonemes this week will be  j, v  and y .  We will continue to practise numeral writing or representing numbers

 

Personal, Social and Emotional

  • Demonstrates friendly behaviour, initiating conversations and forming good relationships with peers and familiar adults.
  • Enjoys responsibility of carrying out small tasks.
  • Shows affection and concern for people who are special to them.

Communication and Language

  • Builds up vocabulary that reflects the breadth of their experiences.
  • Beginning to understand 'why' and 'how' questions.
  • Uses a range of tenses (e.g. play, playing, will play, played).

Literacy

  • Joins in with repeated refrains and anticipates key events and phrases in rhymes and stories.
  • Uses intonation, rhythm and phrasing to make the meaning clear to others.
  • Recognises rhythm in spoken words.

Physical Development:

  • Uses one-handed tools and equipment, e.g. makes snips in paper with child scissors
  • Realises tools can be used for a purpose.
  • Can tell adults when hungry or tired or when they want to rest or play.

Mathematics

  • Uses positional language.
  • Shows an interest in number problems.
  • Shows an interest in representing numbers.

Understanding of the World

  • Shows interest in the lives of people who are familiar to them.
  • Comments and asks questions about aspects of their familiar world such as the place where they live or the natural world.
  • Talks about why things happen and how things work.

Expressive Arts and Design

  • Sings a few familiar songs.
  • Understands that they can use lines to enclose a space, and then begin to use these shapes to represent objects.
  • Engages in imaginative role-play based on own first-hand experiences.

 

Nursery Learning Challenge Summer 1

 

Each half term we will be setting our pupils a challenge related to their learning, this is in line with the rest of the school. We believe that it is important for us to provide guidance for parents on how their children's learning can be extended at home.

 

The learning challenge will include either a nursery rhyme, illustration or a piece of music. Please talk to your child about the challenge and help them to engage in their learning. The children can choose how they present their learning challenge outcomes to their teacher or class however the table below details some ideas for the learning challenge.

We are also now asking for the final £1 snack contribution.  Also please refrain from allowing your children to bring toys into school, unfortunately they get lost, broken or cause arguments.

Please be advised that on Friday 24th June the school will be closing early.  Therefore all Nursery children are invited to attend the Nursery for the morning session 8.30-11.30am
