Term: Spring 1
Date:
09.01.17
Dear
Parents,
The children have settled back into school well
after the Christmas break. We started our topic ‘What’s in a story?’ last week
and began by looking at the traditional tale The Gingerbread Man. We finished
the week off with a gingerbread hunt around the school as we retold the story.
The children enjoyed joining in with the repeated refrain ‘run, run as fast as
you can, you can’t catch me I’m the gingerbread man!’ This week we will be
reading The Little Red Hen for our topic book and the children will have the

Learning Challenge
Each half term we will be setting our pupils a
challenge related to their learning. We believe that it is important for us to
provide guidance for parents on how their children's learning can be extended
at home.
The learning challenge will include either a
nursery rhyme, famous person, illustration or a piece of music. Please talk to
your child about the challenge and help them to engage in their learning. The
children can choose how they present their learning challenge outcomes to their
