The Gingerbread Man trail

We began our Traditional Tale topic this week and as the predicted the children loved reading and exploring the text "The Gingerbread Man".  One of our many aims is to develop a life long love of learning and by reading stories, acting them out and carrying out other various related tasks, the children were responding passionately.  They took great delight in joining in with the repeated refrains such as "Run, run as fast as you can" and they also anticipated key events and changed the ending of the story.  Livi said "If he fell in the water he might melt because that's what happens when you dip a biscuit in your tea".

This afternoon all of  the Reception children got the opportunity to follow a trail around the field looking for the characters from the story, they told the story as they went and when we arrived back at our class we discovered a Gingerbread Man for everyone to try. Iniya said "This is the best day ever!"
