Apple Class at the Park!

Apple class set off today to Central Park ready for their healthy eating picnic. The children prepared their own sandwiches this morning, discussing the concept of 'half' as they cut the bread and chose their fillings. "Half means you need to cut it down the middle" said Lilly whilst Augustas explained that "both pieces need to be the same size".

After lunch the children excitedly got ready for the park and remembered to find Barney Bear to take with them - Barney Bear loves visiting playgrounds! During the walk to the park the children kept a close eye on their surroundings spotting a variety of things in their local environment. We also found a large ginger cat that was very brave as we walked past. "It's the 496! It goes to Harold Wood!" Kayne told the rest of Apple Class.

After a play in the playground the children were already for the picnic they had prepared earlier in the day. "My tummy is hungry is it time for sandwiches?" asked Lukas. They ate their sandwiches very quickly and then enjoyed a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables. This gave the children a chance to discuss healthy eating choices, their likes and dislikes and links into Healthy Eating Week.

We made it back to school a little hot but with lots of smiling faces. They children all had a fantastic time and did not want to leave the park. "Can we go again tomorrow?" asked Iyinope.
