Dear Parent/Carer,
The children really enjoyed the story 'The Gingerbread Man' last week. We have decided to continue to focus enhancements around this story this week, the children will continue to make and bake gingerbread men in small groups. This week the children have a fairytale workshop to look forward to on Wednesday and we will celebrate Number Day with the rest of the school on Friday. The children will be able to wear number themed fancy dress on Friday, please see the Number Day handouts/blog for ideas.
These are the skills we will be focusing on this week:
Mathematics
We have a variety of number games planned to celebrate number day including, bingo, hopscotch and number board games.

Physical
The children have started small group sessions with our PE coach Miss Evans. This week they are developing their co-ordination using a large ball to roll, throw and catch.
Literacy
The children have lots of props available for them to create their own fairytale puppets and talk about characters in stories.
In our letters and sounds the children will have key pictures for them to talk about and create their own stories.

Workshop/Creative
Introducing printing - using various materials such as duplo blocks, shapes, rollers.

Snack
Following a recipe to make and bake gingerbread men.
Communication and Language
Encouraging children to use simple sentences correctly.
Encouraging children to hold a conversation and respond to comments.
Personal and Social Development
Ensuring children are able to co-operate with routines and some boundaries.
Modelling the correct behaviours in play, ensuring children use resources well and begin to share with other children.
