Nursery Newsletter 11.11.2019
This week we are sharing the story 'Peace at Last' by Jill Murphy with the children. The story talks about Mr Bear who finds it very difficult to fall asleep because of all of the noises in the house like Mrs Bear snoring or the tap dripping. The story will allow lots of opportunities to talk about day time and night time and the children's bed time routines.
Understanding of the World
This week our story is 'Peace at Last'. This family story is a great way to start talk about the children's own families and their usual routines. If you have a family photo of people special to your child you can email this to: eyfs@broadford.havering.sch.uk.
We will be completing a minutes silence and observing Remembrance Day on Monday, we will share this short clip with the children: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv_ub7Be7oA
Snack Focus
This week we are learning to make our own toast and use the toaster correctly. The children will be supported to spread their topping carefully after.
Maths
The children are developing their knowledge of early counting and number and are beginning to realise that numbers represent an amount. This week we are focusing on the number song '5 little frogs' the children will be encouraged to count and sort.
Communication and Language
We are continuing to support children to speak in full sentences and listen to each other's ideas. This is both through adult led time when talking about stories/own experiences and in their play.
Mark making/Expressive arts and Design
The children are creating their own firework inspired pictures this week using cardboard tubes and paint.
Malleable
This children enjoyed setting up an Autumn inspired tuff tray in the sand area. We added dried ingredients such as peas, red lentils, chickpeas and pumpkins along with different sized containers and scoops. The children carefully scooped their mixtures developing concentration skills and adults were on hand to develop the children's language and maths as they explored the materials.
