Key Information
“I can help you with your coat” said Emma to many children this week.
3/4 year old Library Visit
The children enjoyed trips to the local library in Harold Hill this week. They walked sensibly with their adults, listened to the stories and even did a conga around the library (we weren’t too quiet!). They walked up the long hill and some children were lucky enough to spot Fallow deer on the grassy bank! A few children sang ‘The Grand Old Duke of York’ and others made up their own words in place of the narrative ‘Brown Bear Brown Bear’ commenting on what they could see along the way.
A very special thank you to all the parent volunteers that supported us on the trip; it would not have been possible without you!
2 year old Library Visit
Mrs Ngenge was very proud of the Blue group children who visited the Broadford Library this week. They walked sensibly to the library, listened well to Miss McFarlane who read a few stories to them and paid good attention to the stories. They pointed to the parts of the book when asked questions, opened the flaps on the pages and enjoyed the experience. They had some time after their story to explore the library; Akela and Nusayr got very excited when they spotted Brown Bear Brown Bear in the library which they had read this week in nursery too!
Join your Local Library
To join your child to Havering Libraries, simply visit your local library in person or join via the website at www.havering.gov.uk/libraries.
Your child will not require ID to join, only you as their guarantor. Acceptable ID includes a driving licence, your most recent council tax bill or a recent bank statement/utility bill. ID should include your name and current address (your passport does not include your address). If you come along to the library to join, your child does not have to be with you. You can collect a form from a member of staff and either join there and then or it take home to fill in and bring back another time. Your address ID will need to be shown. If you join online, simply present your ID to a member of staff on your next visit and they can look up the online account and transfer to a library card. Your address ID will need to be shown.
Coat Helpers
This week we have been encouraging children to try tasks by themselves first, then ask a friend to help and if they still need help to then ask an adult. This sparked a real interest in children becoming ‘coat helpers’ and lots of children that are able to put their coats on independently were then offering to help their friends. It also provided a fantastic way for children to increase their confidence in using the sentence: “Please can you help me?” Here is a video showing Emma helping Teodor.
