Book of the week:

This week the children have been listening to the book, The tiger who came to tea. We have loved this story and have had a lot of fun discussing how we would react if a tiger came to our home for tea. During circle time the children have done great work remembering main points of the story and sharing their opinions of what they did and did not like about the book.

Fun with food:

This week the children have been making bread rolls. With support they followed the reciepe and kneeded the bread. Some of the children made comments that making bread rolls is similar to making playdough. The children were super interested, waiting patiently as the rolls had to rest before being baked.  The rolls were a huge hit with the children, who ate them with butter and jam.

Play this week:

This week the children have focused on building our knowledge and skills based on our book of the week; The tiger who came to tea. We have been practicing our mark making skills, concentrating on our pencil grips whilst marking pictires of tigers using photograph prompts. We have also been practicing forming letter formations correctly for those showing an interest and encouraging all the children to attempt marking their name on their work.

The children have enjoyed being creative with paint and playdough, using their literacy knowledge to create pictures and role play around our story of the week. The children especially loved making tea for the tiger and friends using props at the play dough table.

Thank you for a fantastic week of learning and fun at nursery.
