Story of the week

This weeks book is called  Jasper's Beanstalk. Jasper's Beanstalk is one of the nursery special 5 books children should read by the end of the year as part of their bedtime stories program. Each child will receive a special certificate once they read all 5 of our nursery special books, as part of the bedtime stories program.

Focus activities

The children have been listening carefully to farm animal sounds this week. We have been playing bingo and placing a counter over an animal every time we hear the sound.

Fun with numbers

This week the children have been practicing how to write 0 to 2. Our ten town focus number of the week is number Tommy two. The children love using their magic pencils to write numbers in the air.

We have loved using guides to mark numbers during our play. The children have been able to use the guides then attempt to mark the numbers independently on plain paper.

The children have loved using their literacy knowledge of Jaspers beanstalk to count and measure growth using cubes at the maths table. Some of the children have become very good at subsidizing and counting to 10.

Science Week

This week is science week in Nursery we have been exploring seeds to support our knowledge of plants and how they grow. In the tuff tray we have been scooping out the seeds from different fruits including apples and sugar snap peas. We have been watching how the apple has changed over the week too. In our snack area we have also been helping to cut and explore different fruits before making yummy fruit kebabs.

Creative play

We have been very creative in Nursery this week! In the art area the children have been encouraged to observe the petals and flowers of the daffodils before making their own beautiful daffodil paintings. In the playdough area we have been enjoying making some yummy pretend pizzas! We have added various toppings to our pizzas and have been very good at sharing our ingredients.
The children have also been exploring the blocks in the carpet area, they have been working collaboratively and creating towns and towers for the toy animals.

We had lots of fun this week, we hope you did too!
