This week, the children have been having lots of fun with number recognition! 🔢 They’ve been spotting numbers and matching them with the correct amount of objects. Some children used little counters, toys, or even mini eggs to make sure the number on their card matched the quantity in front of them.
It was wonderful to see children concentrating as they counted carefully, double-checking their work, and helping each other when needed. Some even challenged themselves by creating bigger numbers or arranging the objects into patterns, turning learning into a playful and hands-on activity.
his week, the children had a blast making colourful Easter egg designs with tissue paper! They carefully tore, cut, and stuck bright pieces of tissue paper onto their egg shapes. Once they were finished, we put the eggs on the window, and the sunlight shone through, making their creations glow beautifully.
Children loved experimenting with colour combinations and patterns, and they were so proud to see their eggs sparkling in the sunlight. Some layered colours for a rainbow effect, while others created neat, symmetrical designs, it was a fantastic mix of creativity and imagination.
The activity was a lovely way to combine art, exploration, and a bit of magic, as everyone watched the windows light up with their bright and cheerful Easter eggs.
This week, the children had a creative blast making their very own Easter eggs from playdough! They shaped the eggs carefully and then decorated them with colourful sequins, exploring patterns, textures, and colours. Some children experimented with symmetrical designs, while others let their imaginations run wild with rainbow eggs and glittery creations.
This activity supported Expressive Arts and Design, as the children explored materials, colours, and patterns. It also strengthened fine motor skills and hand muscles, important for writing and practical tasks, as they pinched, pressed, and decorated their eggs.
This week, our Sensory Tuff Tray was full of Easter fun! The children explored scooping and pouring lentils and mini eggs, using small plates and spoons to practice their careful movements. A little bunny friend joined the tray, and the children loved pretending to feed it, using their imagination to create little mealtime stories.
This activity supported Physical Development, helping the children strengthen their fine motor skills and coordination as they scooped, poured, and transferred items. It also encouraged Imaginative Play and Communication and Language, as children chatted about feeding the bunny, sharing ideas, and making up stories together.
This week’s Finger Gym was egg-citing! The children had a brilliant time hunting through shredded paper to find hidden eggs. Once they discovered an egg, they had to squeeze, pop, and carefully open it to reveal the treasure inside.
This activity was not only super fun, but it also helped the children develop their fine motor skills and hand strength, which are important for writing and daily tasks. They practiced pincer grip and hand-eye coordination as they searched, squeezed, and uncovered their surprises.
We were so impressed with the fantastic Easter bonnets the children created at home, thank you for your wonderful support! Each bonnet was full of creativity, colour, and personality, and the children were so proud to share their designs with their friends.
To celebrate, we held our very own Easter bonnet parade in the school hall! The children took turns to walk along our “runway,” showing off their beautiful creations. There were lots of smiles, claps, and excitement as everyone cheered each other on. It was lovely to see the children building their confidence as they shared their work and spoke about what they had made.
We also celebrated Cultural Day this week, and it was such a special moment for everyone! The children came into nursery dressed in outfits that represent their culture, and we were blown away by the fantastic colours, patterns, and traditions on display.
It was wonderful to see the children shining with pride as they shared their outfits with their friends. There were lots of smiles, conversations, and curiosity as the children noticed similarities and differences, learning from one another in such a natural and meaningful way.
A big thank you to some of our incredibly kind parents who baked and brought in delicious treats from their cultures. The children were so excited to try them, and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying the different flavours together!
We loved celebrating the uniqueness of every child and coming together as a nursery family to appreciate all the different cultures that make our setting so special.
The children also took part in a very exciting Easter egg hunt around the nursery! They followed clues hidden in different areas, working together to solve them and figure out where to go next. There was lots of excitement as they searched high and low, eagerly discussing ideas and helping each other along the way.
When they finally reached the end, they were delighted to discover a basket of chocolate waiting for them! The children were so proud of themselves for solving the clues and completing the hunt, it was a wonderful mix of teamwork, problem-solving, and Easter fun.
We had a very special surprise to end our week! One of our fantastic Midday Assistant Managers, Sally, went above and beyond by bringing in some baby chicks for the children to see.
The children were absolutely delighted! They watched them closely, gently stroked their soft feathers, and talked about how tiny and fluffy they were. It was such a calm and magical experience, with lots of excitement and curiosity from everyone.
A huge thank you to Sally for such a thoughtful and memorable end-of-term treat, it was a truly lovely experience for the children!
