Reception learning - W.C 23.03.2026

Year Reception: What We Are Learning

Our Reception classes have been working really hard this week. Our focus books were about, Easter as well as different cultures and religions. Well done, everyone!

Here is what we have been up to: We have learnt about Easter, Lent, Ramadan and Eid. We have created art associated with Easter. We made Easter bunnies using paint and had a go at creating Mehndi hand patterns. We used zip-lock bags as paint pipes to create our designs.

We also did an exciting Easter egg hunt and received yummy treats at the end!

The children have also been working hard in Read, Write, Inc this week. In Literacy, we wrote a mind map about Easter. We used words such as hunt, chick, fun, egg, chocolate, lamb and Spring. Please continue to read 5 times a week with your children and work on set 1 sounds as well as word time words (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc).

In Maths, the children  complete simple and more complex repeating patterns to help the Easter bunny find the lost eggs. The children have also made Easter bonnets with complex patterns on them to wear for our Easter bonnet parade. They enjoyed cutting and sticking Easter pictures too!

Easter Bonnet Parade

This week we also participated in the school Easter Bonnet Parade. We listened to Easter music, danced and showed our fabulous Easter bonnets.

Culture and Religion day

For World Culture and Religion Day, children were invited to come to school in any attire that best represents their culture or religion. We did 3 mini-lessons about different cultures/ religions. The children learnt about Aboriginal Australian dreamtime stories, the Islam religion, Nigerian music and Hungarian folkdance.

Well done Reception for an amazing half term. Have a happy Easter and we will see you when we return on 13th April 2026!
