Nursery certificates- 3.2.23

Each week, 2 children in Nursery will receive an E for Excellence certificate in recognition of their hard work.

A big congratulations to Matthew for his fantastic problem solving skills. Matty found different ways of getting down from equipment when climbing outside. He the built up his confidence and jumped off independently. Super job, Matty!

A big congratulations to Medhanch for his super work with his friends. Medhanch spent a long time creating 'super ramps' for his cars and finding ways to make them go faster. He also applied some fantastic problem solving skills when his cars go stuck! Well done, Medhanch, keep it up!

Our 5 Favourite Books

A huge well done to Sriyan for reading his 5 favourite books, Sriyan was able to tell Miss Day all about them. Keep up the super reading at home, Sriyan!

This week we compared mass using everyday items. We made direct comaprisons by holding items to estimate which is the heaviest and which is the lightest and using balance scales.

The children were given opportunities to explore and discuss weight, including the common misconception that larger items are always heavier.

Ryan: " This is the lighter side"

Issam: "It's the same!"

Adam: "This box is heavier"

Jaxon: "Let's make this side heavier"

Key vocabulary:

Heavy, light, heavier, lighter, heaviest, lightest, balance, scales, equal

Nursery Fun 27.01.23

Nursery blog 27.01.23

We had another great week in Nursery last week. Here are some of our highlights;

Marvelous mud
The children were super excited to explore the new outdoor equipment that was kindly donated to us. They grabbed the spades and began digging a ditch around the tree and transporting the mud to the mud kitchen.

Rocking and Rolling!
This week we had the giant tunnels out in nursery and the children loved using these. The shuffled though, hid inside and also rolled in the tunnels to make them move from one side of the area to the other!

 Super snacks
Lots of the children were very adventurous, trying food they wouldn't usually try at home. The red pepper was very popular but the children said they weren't so keen on  the green pepper. The poor celery was given the cold shoulder by most of the children but Oscar and Ellie-Mae didn't mind, as it meant more for them!

Awesome art
The children really enjoyed their colour mixing challenge this week, they making different shades and colours. They then used these to paint pictures of their choice.

Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!

Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!

In Reception, we have been reading the gingerbread man. It all started with a video that showed that cheeky gingerbread man making a mess in our classrooms! We drew and wrote descriptions of him to make wanted posters in an effort to find out where he had got to!

We used all of our senses to smell ginger and make some gingerbread playdough, which we then moulded and cut into shapes.

It was then time to make our own gingerbread men! We measured out all of the ingredients, rolled, cut and decorated them until they were just right - before eating them just like the fox in our story!
