Term: Autumn 2 Date: 16.11.15
Our story of the
week is ‘Owl Babies’.
The children
enjoyed learning about Diwali last week and sampling Indian food. Thank you to
Kanishka’s parents for sharing pictures of their Diwali celebrations with the
children and Peter’s parents for lending us tea lights to use for our Diwali tasting table!
The story of
the week this week is ‘Owl Babies’. On Tuesday afternoon the children will have
a visit from the ‘Owl Lady’ who will be bringing a selection of owls to visit
us.
Your child will be taking part in the following activities. (Activities are
subject to change, depending on the children’s interests):
Personal,
Social and Emotional
● We will discuss the characters feelings in
the Owl Babies story and encouraging them to share their own experiences of
times they have felt happy, sad, scared etc.
● We will help the children to develop
their empathy skills by thinking about how other people/characters feel and
what we can do to help.
● We will continue to focus on the
children’s ability to take turns without adult support and share their
resources by ensuring there are lots of planned opportunities and resources
available for the children to do this.
● We will be focusing on the story of
Owl Babies and encouraging children to join in with repeated refrains. We will
be discussing feelings of the Owls and learning alternative words for ‘happy’
and ‘sad’.

Learning Challenge
Each half term we will be setting our
pupils a challenge related to their learning, this is in line with the rest of
the school. We believe that it is important for us to provide guidance for
parents on how their children's learning can be extended at home.
The learning challenge will include
either a nursery rhyme, illustration, person or a piece of music. Please talk
to your child about the challenge and help them to engage in their learning.
The children can choose how they present their learning challenge outcomes
to their teacher or class however the table below details some ideas for the
learning challenge.
Poem/Song to learn: 5 Little
Fireworks
5 Little fireworks

The children are learning about patterns, colours
