Our story of the week is ‘Whatever Next’’.
We are starting to practice songs for our christmas performance. The children need to bring dark clothes Black/Brown for the Christmas performance. Could this please be brought to school in a named plastic carrier bag by Friday 4th December.
Personal, Social and Emotional
- We will help the children to develop their empathy skills by thinking about how other people/characters feel and what we can do to help.
- We will continue to focus on the children’s ability to take turns without adult support and share their resources by ensuring there are lots of planned opportunities and resources available for the children to do this.
- We are turning our role play area into a rocket. The children will be encouraged to work together and engage in imaginative play.
Communication and Language
- Introduces a storyline or narrative into their play.
- Listens and responds to ideas expressed by others in conversation or discussion.
Physical Development
- The children will be continuing to go out in small groups with Mr Portway
- We are developing the children’s ability to balance and develop their arm strength using balance beams and climbing walls.
- Holds pencil between thumb and two fingers, no longer using whole-hand grasp.
- Can copy some letters, e.g. letters from their name.
- We will be making sandwiches with the children and discussing healthy eating.
Literacy
- We will be continuing with our daily Read, Write Inc. groups.
- Beginning to read and write simple CVC words such as ‘dog’ or ‘cat’.
- Writes own name.
- Please ensure your child’s reading book is in school on their reading day.
- We will be writing lists for the picnic on the moon after reading the story ‘Whatever Next’.
Mathematics
- Finds the total number of items in two groups by counting all of them
- Beginning to relate this to addition and using the language of addition e.g. total, altogether.
- Comparing sets and explaining which has more or less.
Understanding of the World
- Making sandwiches for the ’Whatever Next’ picnic. The children will be encouraged to work independently and learn the correct safety procedures to follow.
- Investigating the new light box.
Expressive Arts and Design
- Manipulates materials to achieve a planned effect.
- Constructs with a purpose in mind, using a variety of resources.
- Uses simple tools and techniques competently and appropriately
- Creates simple representations of events, people and objects.
- Chooses particular colours to use for a purpose.
