An Animal Experience!

The Reception children on Friday were very excited by the visitor they had, Mitch from the Animal Experience. Mitch brought with him an array of animals including Charlie the snake, Thumper the meerkat, a hissing cockroach, an owl and a very large lizard!

The children all demonstrated fantastic listening and attention skills as they listened and responded to Mitch. They learnt about the habitats the animals live in, what they like to eat and whether they are awake in the day. They were able to touch, hold and stroke many of the animals if they choose to. Stroking an owl is one of the 48 experiences that children experience during their time at Broadford. Seeing an owl in real life was fantastic timing as next week our story of the week is Owl Babies and the children will now have a greater understanding and experience of owls to relate to when we read the story.
