Nursery Weekly Newsletter




Term: Spring 2 Date 03.03.14

We will continue to investigate life on the farm this week. The children have enjoyed playing with the ‘Small World Farm’. They have also had great time role playing in the Vets Surgery.
Our book of the week is, ‘Farm Yard Hullabaloo’ and we will be singing ‘The Farmers in the Den’ and ‘Little Boo Peep’.

Personal, Social and Emotional
Begins to except the needs of others and can take turns, share resources and accept the needs of others.
Aware of boundaries set, and of behavioural expectations in the setting.
Enjoys the responsibility of carrying out small tasks

Communication and Language
Understands more complex sentences.
Understands who, what and where questions.
Uses language to imagine and recreate roles and experiences in play situations.


Physical Development:
Can catch a large ball.
Runs skilfully and negotiates space.
Developing cutting skills. 

Mathematics
Uses positional language.
Sometimes matches numeral and quantity correctly.
Recites some number names in sequence.

Understanding of the World
Can talk about why things happen and how things work.
Notices detailed features.
Seeks to acquire basic skills in turning on and off operating some ICT equipment. 

Expressive Arts and Design
Captures experiences and responses with a range of media, such as music, dance, paint and other materials
Uses available resources to create props to support role play, creating props for the vets.
Role playing the story of Rosie’s walk.

Literacy
Listens to and joins in with songs
Can copy some letters from their name.
Beginning to be aware of the way stories are structured.

Just a reminder that if you missed your meeting and do not have another one rescheduled, please see a member of staff who will be more than happy to book you one up.

World Book Day is Thursday 6th March. The children can come dressed as a character from a book on that day, to promote a love of reading.
