Nursery: Finger Gym, Pudsey’s visit and more!

Nursery have been very busy since returning from home learning! We have introduced a finger gym, we were visited by Pudsey Bear and there has been more activities going on.

What is the finger gym?

To extend the children’s fine motor skills the learning environment now includes a finger gym which the children can engage with during free flow time. The activity on the finger gym will be changed each week. Last week the following activity was set up; it is so simple and one you could definitely try at home. Cut across one side of a tennis ball, draw a face on it and the children squeeze either side of the mouth to open it and gobble up pom poms (you could use cotton wool balls at home).

Who did Pudsey Bear visit?

On Friday 27th November, Pudsey Bear dropped into nursery to say hello during the afternoon. It was fantastic timing as Miss Cumming was reading a story about Pudsey bear at the time. The children were on best behaviour and were excited to see him!

Where have the children been exploring?

The nursery children went on a listening walk on the school grounds to explore the sounds that they could hear. The sounds that children noticed were drawn and written onto a poster which is now on display in the classroom. You can support your child to tune into the environmental sounds around them by encouraging them to talk about what they can hear when out and about or even indoors.

I can hear the leaves’, ‘I can hear the bus, look’ and ‘I can hear the seagulls,’ were some of the comments the children made during the sound walk!

Keep up the fantastic learning nursery, we are so proud of your achievements!
