Numeracy

Monday

Tuesday

Wednesday

Thursday

Friday

Recognise the number 14 and different representations of 14.  Look at the Number 14.

Can you write the number 14?

Can you write the numbers from 0-9?

Ten Town Number Formation

Can you make simple action patterns such as: knees, clap, knees, clap, knees, clap? Try Hands up, hands down, up, down, up, down. Can you come up with a new action pattern of your own. Can you make sound patterns with the sounds you have learnt? For example: ch, sh, ch, sh, ch, sh. Can you make your own? Go through the Patterns. Can you complete them?

Go through the Patterns and complete them.  What do you notice? What is the same and what is different? What is different this time?

Can you make a pattern using cubes or counters? Can you describe your pattern?

Using the Pattern Frame build patterns around the edge of your frame putting one item in each space. Try different patterns and see which will fit around the frame exactly and which won't. Which patterns will fit exactly into the frames? Are there any patterns which fit exactly around both frames? How many more spaces did you need for a pattern that wouldn’t fit? Can you test some of your own patterns in the frames? Which of your patterns fitted exactly? Which didn’t fit?

Go on a walk around and collect natural objects to make a pattern such as long stick, short stick, leaves or pebbles. Arrange your patterns in straight lines or around the edge of a hoop to create a particular pattern.

Listen to the story - Jack and the Beanstalk

Monday

Tuesday

Wednesday

Thursday

Friday

Listen to the story Jack and the Beanstalk and go through the Vocab Slides. Read the Letter from the Giant. Can you measure the Jack and Giant's Footprints? Or do you have any shoes at home that you could measure? How many cubes long are the different footprints? What else can you use to measure how long the footprints are? What objects are longer than the Giant’s footprints and what are shorter? Do you have any objects that are the same height?

Please find here any additional resources for

Jack and the Beanstalk

Watch the video of Beanstalk's Growing and listen to How a Seed Grows

What does a seed need to grow? Read about Plants. In school we are going to plant our own bean seeds and measure them each week to see how high they grow. If you have a bean seed at home you can plant yours and measure it each week at home too! We are also going to experiment by seeing what happens if we have one seed that we water and one that we don’t and one that we keep in sunlight and one in the darkness. What do you think will happen to the one we don’t water? What will happen to the one in the darkness?

Listen again to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.

What would you like to find at the top of the beanstalk?

Think of some ideas for what you would like to find at the top of your beanstalk.

Can you measure your height?

You could use paper and pens to record your height.

Could you measure your different family members heights?

Can you compare your family's different heights?

Use the sentences __ is taller/shorter than ___.

Listen to Titch and The Tiny Seed and look at Flowers

Look at how to label a flower.

Activity

Measure the footprints using cubes or other objects from your home. Compare with different objects and record your measurements.

Wellbeing Wednesday

Reception, on Wellbeing Wednesday you can take a break from your computers and devices and take part in lots of fun, different activities outside or around your home.

This afternoon, complete a finger breathing exercise. Calmly breathe in and out, as you trace up and down your fingers.

Five Finger Breathing Calming Technique for stress, anxiety, etc. feelings

You could also go for a walk in your local area. What did you notice on your walk? Did you see any animals or notice any changes to any of the trees or wildlife?

You may want to help your family with any chores around the house. You could tidy your room or help with folding clothes away or washing up.

Why not help your family to prepare and make a healthy dinner or bake something delicious in the afternoon!

We hope you enjoy taking part in Wellbeing Wednesday.

Please let us know what you got up to and share your learning with us!

Please email us at eyfs@broadford.havering.sch.uk to contact a member of the Reception Team. Please submit work using a Parent Postcard on Evidence Me. Keep checking the Broadford More Blogs page EYFS Blog Page and Facebook page for updates.
