Jack and the Beanstalk shoots into Reception!

Jack and the Beanstalk

Jack and the Beanstalk: Ladybird First Favourite Tales

Jack and the Beanstalk shoots into Reception!

Reception have had a brilliant first week back at school. We have been learning all about the story Jack and the Beanstalk as part of our Growing and Changing Topic for this half term. At the start of the week all three Reception classes received a letter from The Giant! The Giant wanted us all to measure the footprints in our classrooms. All of the children enjoyed using cubes to measure Jack and The Giant's footprints. In maths, we have been learning about repeated and growing patterns too. Reception also enjoyed learning all about what seeds need to grow. All of the children were super excited to plant their own bean seeds. They are looking forward to measuring them each week to see how high their bean plants will grow! We also thought of lots of brilliant ideas of what we would like to find at the top of the beanstalk. The children came up with lots of creative ideas of what they would like to find at the top of their beanstalks. The children also enjoyed making a class height chart and comparing their heights. Reception loved learning all about plants and learnt how to label the different parts of a flower. The children enjoyed getting creative and made lots of Jack and the Beanstalk Arts and Crafts. Reception had so much fun this week learning the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and all about plants and flowers as part of our Growing and Changing Topic.

George: It’s 14 cubes.
Scarlet: The pattern is red, red, yellow, red, red, yellow.

Lily: Look I drew a flower with roots.
