This week the children continued to learn Ladybird Ladybird.

Ladybird, ladybird,

Fly away home,

Your house is on fire

And your children all gone;

All except one

And her name is Ann,

And she’s hid under

The baking pan.

Phonic Input

The focus for this week was around rhyming sounds, the children:

  • Learned the silly soup rhyme

  • Identified rhyming words

I’m making lots of silly soup

I’m making soup that’s silly

I’m going to cook it in the fridge

To make it nice and chilly

In goes... a fox... a box... some socks...

Here are two videos that you can watch at home to play the game:

2 year old focus

Maths: This week in our maths learning we revisited some 2D shapes (rectangle, square, triangle and circle). The children shouted, “circle,” while making a circle shape with their fingers in the air and on objects. They also enjoyed hunting for objects in the classroom that has a circle shape. The children demonstrated good counting from 0 to 5 and were able to identify some of the digits including zero and ‘King 1’ stating the phrase, “from top to toe and there you go!”

Expressive Arts and Design: The children enjoyed exploring paint in a different way this week. They have used paint on one side of a butterfly and folded the picture in two to reveal the surprise when they unfolded and saw a symmetrical pattern printed. “Tah dah,” said Zara and “Wow,” said Kailan with a very surprised facial expression.

Preparing for Reception

Each week we will include a tip to help prepare your child for reception; although it seems a long way off the summer term will shortly pass and September will be here before we know it!

Tip of the week:

This week the focus is on practicing with your child to put their shoes and socks on independently. Not only will this help them in the summer term with accessing the sand area and paddle pool with ease it will also prepare them for reception when they will need to have this skill to get ready for PE lessons.

Focus child Meetings

Each week children will be chosen to be observed by their keyworker. Emails will be sent home to inform parents of the upcoming parent meeting taking place the following week, either in person or via telephone. Parents will have an opportunity to complete a form asking questions and sharing concerns they may have for the key worker to answer during the parent meeting. This form will be sent via email. Please check your emails weekly for school communications and evidence me parents share from your children's teachers. Parents are welcome to upload pictures and videos of their children at home.
