Reception celebrate the Queen's Jubilee

 Reception celebrate the Queen's Jubilee.

What a week of fun we have all had celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

On Monday and Tuesday the children were busy making decorations, flags and crowns in between their maths and literacy learning. The children showed to have some great scissor skills when they were cutting their crowns out.

Zarrar- "I look like a king"
Vrisha- "My crown has grey on it"
Poppy- "My crown is pretty"

The children have been writing their letters to the Queen. They have enjoyed thinking about  what they would like to ask the Queen or say to her.  We have had some funny suggestions like; Does the Queen like Skateboarding?  Does she like West Ham?  Does she want to come and play on our big grass hill in the reception playground?

Jessica- "Why does the Queen have two Corgis"
Taylor- "Dear Queen, do you like McDonalds"
Alfie- "Thanks for being our Queen"

On Wednesday the children became Royal Bakers for the day and baked some scones ahead of the Jubilee afternoon tea party. The children used their maths skills to weigh and measure the ingredients needed. They showed great reciprocity skills and have shown they can collaborate and listen well to each other. They have shown that can be reflective and they were able to talk about their learning and identify key features.

Livai- "mix, mix, mix"
Hayden- "It smells yummy"
Noah- "I like baking"

On Thursday, the children arrived to school looking very patriotic in their Red, White and Blue  colours. The children love showing off their outfits to their friends and helping with the final preparations for the special 'Reception Jubilee Afternoon Tea'

Ronnie- "My hat has the flag on it"
Sophia- "My mum made mine and my friends skirts"

The children had a lovely time in the lunch hall eating their special jubilee lunch.

Then came the time for the "Reception Afternoon Tea". The Reception team and children worked hard to prepare for the special tea. The tea was set up in the style of a traditional street party.  On the menu, was some scones, cakes and crisps and some lovely Royal squash.

The children loved every minute of the tea, they enjoyed chatting and socialising with their peers. They  had a sing and dance to the music playing and just enjoyed the afternoon of fun.

Munsha- "I like crisps"
Tommy- "This was the best party ever!"

On Friday, the children enjoyed some time out in the playground with our Year 4 pupils. They made some castle dens and went on a scavenger hunt with their buddies.  We ended our celebration with muffins and juice.  What a great time!

Kai- "Our castle is the best"
Roza- "I found the crown"
Tiger Lily- " Look its here"
