Reception Jubilee Celebrations

Reception Jubilee Celebrations

This week, across the school each year group will focus on a decade of the Queen's reign and explore some areas of life in that given decade.  Reception will be focusing on the 2010s.   To celebrate this decade, the children have been learning the lyrics and the dances moves and will perform the song later in the week.

There will be a red, white and blue dress up day on Thursday 26th May along with a special Jubilee lunch menu.
During the afternoon, the reception children will be having their own afternoon tea .Children will have come home this week with an invitation to our Reception Jubilee Afternoon Tea. The tea will take place in the reception playground (weather permitting). It will be in the style of a traditional street party, with a long table with the children sat around, music playing. The children will have hats and flags that they have made to wave around.   They will be baking their own scones for the special tea and the children have invited along Mrs Nicholls and Mrs Stanley to join them.

Across the week children will be making paper chains and bunting decorations for their afternoon tea. Each child will make a jubilee crown, flag  and pin wheel.

Our literacy focus we will be reading The Queen's handbag. This book tells the story of how the Queen goes on a wild-swan chase around the British Isles, in pursuit of her missing handbag. We will have opportunities to discuss and learn about lots of different British landmarks.

The children will be writing letters to the Queens to congratulate her on her Jubilee. Reception will be making a time capsule and capturing all the fun and memories for our Jubilee celebrations. We will bury this in the ground of the school in the hope it is found by future Broadford pupils.

On Friday 27th May, all pupils are invited to a Party in the Playground.  There will be music, food and games.  Fingers crossed the rain holds off!

We will share all the Jubilee fun in a blog later this week.... Make sure to look out for it.
