Nursery: First Week Back!

This week was the children’s first week back since the lockdown. We have been amazed by the children’s ability to settle back into nursery and we have even had some new faces this week. Our new intake have also done extremely well to settle into nursery this week.

This blog shows some of our highlights from the week including:

  • Experimentation with Colour and Water

  • Rebuilding Wellbeing: Environment

Experimenting with Colours in water

Between the 5th-14th March it is British Science Week. As part of this, the children explored what happens when they mix coloured water!

Rebuilding Wellbeing

The school will be using a new curriculum to focus on the wellbeing of our pupils. It is named Rebuilding Wellbeing and is made up of 5 pillars: SHAPE.

SOUL: Exploring who you are, understanding yourself, growing yourself and continuously improving, being at ease with yourself, learning and practicing gratitude, reducing screen time, developing a growth mindset, and pushing into your stretch zone.

HEART: Being kind, helping the elderly, combatting loneliness, examining online behaviour, building a community within shared values, the importance of family and friends, being compassionate to the situation of others, and eating/drinking together.

ATTITUDE: Learning about, growing, and spreading positivity, optimism, resourcefulness, resilience, and grit.

PHYSICAL: Cooking, nutrition, eating five different colours of food every day, drinking water, regular exercise, developing physical strength, yoga, walking, running, sleeping, breathing and being still, and personal hygiene.

ENVIRONMENT: Caring for and protecting animals, gardening, bush craft, carbon footprint reduction, recycling, sustainability, and den building.

This week we looked at the Environment and did some gardening. We planted seven potatoes and four seed bombs. Hopefully we will be able to harvest and eat some of the potatoes and the seed bombs should attract butterflies and more insects!

Here are some photos from the activity.

Next week:

  • Comic Relief (See Headteacher’s blog)

  • New Intake’s first full week
