Learning to Blend

At this stage your child is segmenting the letters ---- c-a-t but then saying another word, e.g sounding out c-a-t and saying the word mat! This is a developmental stage to learning to blend and you may find the additional links in the document useful!

Numeracy

Recognise the number 10 and different representations of 10. All about Number 10   Can you write the numbers from 0-9? Ten Town Number Formation	Go on a number hunt. Can you find any objects with numbers on from 0-10? Make a number line using numbers and objects from 1-10 More than reasoning	Adding Aliens -  Find 9 objects in your house. E.g. Lego bricks, coins, buttons, stones. Read Adding Aliens Can you add two groups of objects together?	Whole Part Model Powerpoint Share the powerpoint together. (1. Whole section is missing 1+2 = 3) (2. Whole is 5 and one part is 3, how many is missing? 2)  Activity Part Whole Model sheet - this can be downloaded or drawn onto blank paper. Use a variety of objects to find the different parts which make up the whole.

Part-whole models progression - concrete using objects, pictorial using pictures and then abstract using number sentences.

What does your mum do to help you? What could you do to show her you care on Mother’s Day? Talk to your big person. Make and decorate  your Mother’s Day card.
