"Once there was a boy
and one day he found a penguin at his door..."
We have loved exploring the story 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers. We have found out some interesting facts about penguins and watched some lovely clips on penguins in their natural habitats.
We have built igloo's in the malleable area. We created a lost poster for our penguin and worked hard to write sentences to describe what the penguin looked like. We put our designing hats on to build boats and tested them in water. We had a great time going on a penguin hunt in the sand area. We became explorers and found the South Pole on the map and look at how long it would take us to travel there. We then decided what we would pack in our suitcase if we were to go on an adventure to the South Pole. We have been focusing on measurement in maths this week. The children have measured the length of objects in class, they have used vocabulary related to capacity and played shopping and shopkeeper.
As always the children have shown great reciprocity and resilience in their learning, capitalised on resources and identified key features and been able to discuss their learning.
We are super proud of you all
Sofia: "I think my boat will float"
Pippa: "My boat is flat on the bottom, so it will float
Alana: “That’s 5 pence please.”
Thomas: “6 add 6 is 12.”
Haileigh; "Look at my Boat!!"
Chloe: "I like Penguin's flippers!"
