Days of the Week Song

Click on link for the 28.06.2021 RWI Virtual School for this week’s phonic sounds sessions. We have also added Learning to Blend videos too.

Learning to Blend

At this stage your child is segmenting the letters ---- c-a-t but then saying another word, e.g sounding out c-a-t and saying the word mat! This is a developmental stage to learning to blend and you may find the additional links in the document useful!

Links will expire in 7 days.

Where are the different Positions of the fox? Use a teddy and place the teddy next to/under/over/behind/in front of a chair.  Can you use the correct positional language to describe where the teddy is each time?

Use a balance scale, you could use hangers and cups! Weigh two different items. Repeat for other items. Can you predict whether the scales will go up/down? Which object will be lighter or heavier?

Weigh a range of items. Can you explain which item was the heaviest/lightest and why?

Use a jug full of squash and have cups for filling. Can you find out how much squash is in the jug? How many cups do you think we can fill up? Record your estimation, then fill up as many cups as you can while you count aloud. Each cup needs to be filled to the same place to make the measurement fair. Can you use the language of empty/half full/full? How many cups did you use?  Can you fill the cups up to full, nearly full, half full/empty, nearly empty and empty?

Go through Money and correctly pay for the items. Can you add two items together? Use numicon and your fingers to work out the answers.

Can you measure different items using cubes, lego or other construction? Measure different toys using cubes. What item was the longest and what was the shortest?

Go through the Measure Reasoning.

What does the Penguin look like? Can you describe the penguin? Can you make a Lost Poster to help find the penguin?

The penguin was lonely. What does it mean to be lonely and how can we help others when they are feeling lonely? What can we do when we feel lonely ourselves?

Go through how to build Boats. Look at the different types of boats. Can you make your own boat using different resources around your home? Can your boat float? You can use toys or marbles to see how many objects your boat can hold.

Where do penguins live? Look at the Map and locate the South Pole. Where do we live? How far away is it? If you wanted to go there how would you travel? What would you take in your suitcase?

Wellbeing Wednesday

Reception, on Wellbeing Wednesday you can take a break from your computers and devices and take part in lots of fun, different activities outside or around your home.

This afternoon, complete these mindfulness activities: complete the game What’s Your Name?

Spell out your full name and complete the activity for each letter.

For an even greater challenge include your middle name and do each activity twice!

If you want to continue the game you could spell out the name of your favourite character or a family member.

name fit

You could also go for a walk in your local area. What did you notice on your walk? Did you see any animals or notice any changes to any of the trees or wildlife?

You may want to help your family with any chores around the house. You could tidy your room or help with folding clothes away or washing up.

Why not help your family to prepare and make a healthy dinner or bake something delicious in the afternoon!

We hope you enjoy taking part in Wellbeing Wednesday.

Please let us know what you got up to and share your learning with us!

Please email us at eyfs@broadford.havering.sch.uk to contact a member of the Reception Team. Please submit work using a Parent Postcard on Evidence Me. Keep checking the Broadford More Blogs page EYFS Blog Page and Facebook page for updates.

Best wishes
