Reception Newsletter 28.11.16

Term: Autumn 2                      Date: 28.11.16

Dear Parents,

       This week we will be reading the humorous  text  ‘ Aliens Love Underpants’, this is a great story for provoking the children's imaginations and as always we will be linking it to various cross curricular activites.

     Personal, Social and Emotional:
     Confident to speak to others about own needs, wants, interests and opinions.
     Shows confidence in asking adults for help.
     Can describe self in positive terms and talk about abilities
                              
Communication and Language:
Responds to instructions involving a two-part sequence.
Beginning to understand 'why' and 'how' questions.
Questions why things happen and gives explanations.

Physical Development:
Develop fine motor skills and strength
Can stand momentarily on one foot when shown.
Shows increasing control over an object in pushing, patting, throwing, catching or kicking it.
Literacy:
      Hears and writes initial sounds.
      Knows that print carries meaning and, in English, is read from left to right and top to bottom. Listens to stories with increasing attention and recall.
                           
Mathematics:
Uses the language of 'more' and 'fewer' to compare two sets of objects.
Says the number that is one more than a given number.
Can segment the sounds in simple words and blend them together.

Understanding the World:
Can talk about some of the things they have observed
Remembers and talks about significant events in their own experience.
Recognises and describes special times or events for family or friends.

Expressive Art and Design:
Looks closely at similarities, differences, patterns and change.
Uses various construction materials
Explores colours and how colours can be changed
      
        Messages.
       Learning Challenge
      Each half term we will be setting our pupils a challenge related to their learning. We believe that it is important for us to provide guidance for parents on how their children's learning can be extended at home.
      The learning challenge will include either a nursery rhyme, famous person,  illustration or a piece of music. Please talk to your child about the challenge and help them to engage in their learning. The children can choose how they present their learning challenge outcomes to their teacher or class.

      As you will have noticed from the school newsletter, on Friday, we have had three reception pupils reach the 75 book award, we also have many others fast approaching.  We love to see so much reading taking place at home and would like to urge you to continue this, as the benefits to your child's all round education are endless.

Last day of term: Wednesday 21st December 3.05pm

End of Term Mini Report:
       Any parents that are new to the school this school year (2017-2017) will shortly be receiving an email from inbox@2buildaprofile.complease read the email and follow the instructions.  This will enable you to electronically receive your child's mini report in the last week of term.
