The girls in Apple Class have been busy this week working as architects. The construction area is an area of the classroom where you will often find many of the boys but this week the girls have taken over. Their imagination and ideas has been incredible to see and the structures they have built reflected this. The children have used the battery tea lights to enhance their building as they worked on building houses, the school and even an entire village. The children took their learning a step further when they used the finger puppets to add a narrative to their play.
Madalina explained how they had built a village pointing out where everyones houses were. She was also able to explain how they had built their structures. "These triangular blocks have been used for the roofs as they look like roofs and over here we have built the walls". Layla attempted to build her own roof for a building and persevered despite difficulties showing great resilience. "These bricks are quite hard to balance you have to be very gentle".
The girls have been thoroughly engaged in their play and there is evident learning occurring across many different areas. What will we build tomorrow?
