Reception Newsletter Aut 2 07.11.16



     Term: Autumn 2                      Date: 07.11.16

Dear Parents,

       The children had great fun exploring the festival of diwali last week, we hope you had a chance to look at the blog.  We continue to explore celebrations this week, as we will learn about Guy Fawkes Night.
      We will continue the teaching of phonics, each day we will send home the sound we have learnt, these are sheets for you to complete at home, to support your child.  Please note they do not have to be returned to school.

     Personal, Social and Emotional:
     To take turns and share with their peers.
      Begins to accept the needs of others and can take turns and share resources, sometimes with support from others.
      Initiates play, offering cues to peers to join them.
           
Communication and Language:
Questions why things happen and gives explanations.
Talks about why things happen and how things work
Uses talk to connect ideas, explain what is happening and anticipate what might happen next, recall and relive past experiences

Physical Development:
Shows increasing control over an object in pushing, patting, throwing, catching or kicking it.
Negotiates space successfully when playing racing and chasing games with other children,    adjusting speed or changing direction to avoid obstacles.
Experiments with different ways of moving.
      
Literacy:
      Beginning to be aware of the way stories are structured.
      Enjoys an increasing range of books.
      Describes main story settings, events and principal characters.
      
Mathematics:
Counts out up to six objects from a larger group.
Realises not only objects, but anything can be counted, including steps, claps or jumps.
Separates a group of 3 or 4 objects in different ways.

Understanding the World:
Can talk about some of the things they have observed
Remembers and talks about significant events in their own experience.
Recognises and describes special times or events for family or friends.

Expressive Art and Design:
Uses various construction materials.
Imitates movement in response to music.
Beginning to be interested in and describe the texture of things.
     
        Messages.
       Learning Challenge
      Each half term we will be setting our pupils a challenge related to their learning. We believe that it is important for us to provide guidance for parents on how their children's learning can be extended at home.
      The learning challenge will include either a nursery rhyme, famous person,  illustration or a piece of music. Please talk to your child about the challenge and help them to engage in their learning. The children can choose how they present their learning challenge outcomes to their teacher or class.

Read Write Ink Parental Workshop: Friday 11th November, 9am
Nativity:  Monday 12th December, 10.30am or  2.30pm

      Danny Howe’s PE bag containing his spare clothes have been misplaced.  They were hanging on his peg before half term and they now no longer there.  If your child took them home in error we would appreciate if they were returned to school.
