At this stage your child is segmenting the letters ---- c-a-t but then saying another word, e.g sounding out c-a-t and saying the word mat! This is a developmental stage to learning to blend and you may find the additional links in the document useful!

Recognise the Number 17 and look at the different representations and ways you can make 17. 


Can you write the number 17?


Can you write the numbers from 0-9?

Ten Town Number Formation

Can you make the number 17 using two sets of cubes, two sets of counters or a different set of objects from around your home? Write up all the addition number sentences you can find. 9+8=17

Can you count to 20? 


Go through matching numbers to the correct amounts 1-20.


Can you match the numbers to the correct amounts?


Can you write and order the numbers 1-20 correctly?


Can you count to 20 from different starting points? 


Can you match the numicon to the correct numbers and solve the number problems? Ordering  & one more/one less


Use any cubes or construction that you have at home to build a teen number. What number have you made? What would one more/one less be? 

Can you build each number 1-20 and line them up in the correct order?

Have you ever seen tadpoles before?

Listen to The Ugly Duckling and go through the Vocab Slides. Listen to An Egg is Quiet. Go through the Life Cycle of a Bird and discuss how they change and how the duckling changed. What did he turn into? Have you ever seen chicks or ducklings before? 


Imagine you are the Tiny Tadpole or the Ugly Duckling. What would you want to turn into and why?

The Ugly Duckling looks different. How is he treated? Why is it important to be kind?


What do you want to be when you grow up?  Look at pictures of different Jobs.

The Ugly Duckling said: When I grow up I want to be a beautiful swan.

What do you want to be when you grow?


Listen to Growing Frogs and From Tadpole to Frog. Recap the Life Cycle of a Frog


Activity:

When you go on your daily walk is there a pond where you can visit tadpoles? Watch the video of tadpoles again. Can you describe them? 

Activity: Complete the life cycle of a bird.

Activity: Write a list of the different things you would like to turn into or be when you grow up. 

Activity: Write the sentence ‘When I grow up I want to be…….’

Activity: Complete the life cycle of a frog.

Wellbeing Wednesday

Reception, on Wellbeing Wednesday you can take a break from your computers and devices and take part in lots of fun, different activities outside or around your home.

You could also go for a walk in your local area. What did you notice on your walk? Did you see any animals or notice any changes to any of the trees or wildlife?

You may want to help your family with any chores around the house. You could tidy your room or help with folding clothes away or washing up.

Why not help your family to prepare and make a healthy dinner or bake something delicious in the afternoon!
