  • Inspecting the worms

  • Mark Making

  • People who help us: Lolly pop lady visits

  • SHAPE activity

  • Key Information

Quote of the week:

I’ve found a worm, it’s wriggling! Zofia said as she held a thick long worm in her hands, we put it in the wormery to keep as a pet!

Broadford’s Best Dressed

It was wonderful to see the children dressed in different costumes this week! The children took on their characters in role play and engaged in lots of imaginative play. Here are some photos including two of Sophia, who won the Broadford’s best dressed competition for her brilliant unicorn outfit. Sophia took on the role of a unicorn and had lots of fun play with her classmates.

Inspecting the worms

Here’s some leaves for the worms, Danni-ella has particularly enjoyed finding food for the worms this week!

We have had the wormery for a few weeks now and what is interesting to see is how the worms form tunnels through the different layers of earth, compost and sand. The children have spotted the worms in their tunnels and it has provoked much thought and enquiry.

Mark Making

Since the children started practicing mark making with their key workers in their handwriting books last week, it has inspired them to mark make a lot more in their play. Many children have even been challenging themselves to write their own name which has inspired other children to do the same! Here are some photos of the mark making activities, including painting a box to make a fire engine, painting the fence with water, artwork on the easel.  Fun fact: vertical mark making with large arm movements is great for building shoulder strength (a prerequisite to writing).

People who help us: Lolly pop lady visits

The afternoon children had a visit from Karen the lolly pop this week who told us all about her role and road safety. The children listened really well and learnt new vocabulary including: blackboard and barrier (see if your child can tell you what they mean). Thank you Mrs Light for organising the visit! Karen will be coming back as soon as she can to visit the morning children!

SHAPE Activity (Wellbeing Curriculum)

SHAPE Activity Focus: Heart

We have introduced French Fridays into nursery which the children have loved. We have learnt pomme de reinette et pomme d’api and another greeting song. Here are some videos.
