Wow, what a week this has been!
With last minute changes at the start of term, this week has been a busy one setting up new systems for learning, changes to planning, where and how we work, and touching base with each of you; and through all of this we thank you for your patience, honesty and all your support! We hope you enjoy today's learning and have a wonderful weekend.
Spring 1; Week 1 Theme: Children’s Mental Health Week and Time to Talk Day 7th Jan.
Today’s learning includes:
Story
Activity
Daily Challenge
Our daily activities will reflect the adult led learning that would have taken place in nursery so it is important that your child engages with this learning in addition to child-led play. We will be responding to Evidence Me Parent Shares each week to see how your child is getting on at home.

Daily Challenge
Hopscotch is a fun way to get children balancing, hopping and jumping whilst developing their gross motor skills. If you have some masking tape at home you can map the grid out on the floor and even add in the numbers. Use a bean bag or a pair of socks to throw and land on a square to hop to!
What to look for: can your child jump and land with one foot; can they hop using alternate feet; do they have a more dominant foot to land on; do they use their arms for balance?
We are excited to see your child engaging with the learning!
A Nursery Favourite
I was reminded today of how much the nursery children particularly enjoy the 'Say Hello to the Sun' Sensory song so thought this might be a great one to share. The children sing along, do the actions and we usually put the lights down low with a disco ball. It is really calming!

We understand that home learning is not the norm so please take each day as it comes and give yourself the time and space needed to adjust to the new restrictions and home learning tasks. If you are feeling overwhelmed at this time remember we are here to speak to. One of the best things during this time is to keep your child's usual routine for getting up, meal times and bedtime. Exercise is important for us all, so wrapping up warm and getting outside in the fresh air has a positive difference to our mental health. During this time the most important thing to prioritise is your family's health and wellbeing; young children learn best through play, being spoken to and given independence to carry out small tasks.
