Reception Home Learning Tuesday 26th January 2021

The Little Red Hen

This week our home learning will be based around the traditional tale ‘The Little Red Hen’.

Good Morning Reception - Tuesday 26th January 2021

Please check the updated daily timetable for our live sessions this week and whole school assemblies. Join Reception Go Live at 10:00am today. Please email us if you need your child’s login details. We have our 5 daily sessions for you to enjoy today. Our weekly red word spellings for week 3 are ready to look at, read, cover and write! You have unlimited access to our favourite exercise and brain break session, 5 a day tv. You can access exciting dance routines and chilled out meditations. Join Mrs Gradley for Maths, Miss Hurrell for Topic and remember to have lots of fun and games too!

Reception Home Learning Timetable

Please see the timetable below for Reception home learning sessions and timings. Families can decide the best times for these to take place. However we recommend that the children only sit and work for half an hour  at a time. Younger children can find it harder to concentrate for longer periods of time. It is recommended to have breaks between the sessions.

Updated Google Meets Timetable Lives and Class Groups

A member of the Reception Team will contact you with your child’s day. A group meet code will be sent to the children using Google Classroom for their class session.

Vocabulary related to Time with Mrs Gradley

How long until lunchtime? How long until the weekend? How long until the half term holidays?

Ask an adult to help you time how long each activity takes you to do?

How long does it take to brush your teeth?

How long does it take you to get dressed?

How long does it take you to put your shoes on?

How long does it take you to eat your lunch?

Challenge

Can you think of some of your own activities and how long they took? Daily walk? Playing with your favourite toy?

Time Reasoning

Read  the time reasoning slides and work through the questions. Can you make up your own and quiz a family member?

Paper Plate Clock

Make your own clock using a paper plate, paper or by cutting a circle out of cardboard. Use a real clock to help you to write the numbers correctly and make your own clock hands. You could set the clock to different times to help you know when it is time for something, e.g. if you want to know when bedtime is. Ask an adult to help you set your clock.

Play What’s the Time Mr Wolf?

Ask your family to play ‘What’s the Time Mr Wolf?’ One person stands with their back to the group and everyone else asks, “What’s the time Mr Wolf?” Mr Wolf says a time, e.g. “4 o’clock” and everyone steps forward 4 steps. Continue with different times, until Mr Wolf says “dinnertime!” and chases everyone back to the start. The person Mr Wolf catches, becomes Mr Wolf next.
