Nursery: Home Learning Monday 4th January

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy new year to you all!

Following our email to you today, we will be posting daily blogs on the school website and on Evidence Me with activities for your child/ren to engage with.

This blog includes:

  • Typical nursery routine

  • Story

  • Daily Challenge

Going forward we will also include an activity which would usually be delivered during key worker time.

Our daily activities will reflect the adult led learning that would have taken place in nursery so it is important that your child engages with this learning. We will be responding to Evidence Me Parent Shares each week to see how your child is getting on at home.

Daily Routine

Some of you have requested to see an example of a typical day in nursery with timings. You may wish to reflect this structure at home to help with consistency for when they return to nursery.

Child Led Play (including tidy up time and transition)

9:45-10am

Adult led activity

10-11am

Child Led Play (including tidy up time and transition)

11-11:30

Story time and transition

11:30-12pm

Lunch

12-1pm

Child Led Play (including tidy up time and transition)

1-1:15pm

Adult led activity

1:15-2:30pm

2:30-3pm

This page from the Twinkl website outlines what child-led play is and why it is important, see here.

Whilst child-led play is important, boundaries and clear expectations should be upheld throughout the play, ie, expectation to put toys away (in nursery we say, “Choose it, use it, put it away”).

Daily Challenge

  • Can you put your Coat on by yourself?

  • Can you do your Zip and Buttons?

Here is a photo for how to use a chair to get your coat on if you cannot do it yourself yet:

We are excited to see your child engaging with the learning!

If you have any questions please do get in touch.

Kind regards,

The Nursery Team
