Dear Parents and Carers,
As you know, we will be posting daily blogs on the school website and on Evidence Me with activities for your child/ren to engage with whilst at home.
This blog includes:
Story
Activity
Daily Challenge
Our daily activities will reflect the adult led learning that would have taken place in nursery so it is important that your child engages with this learning. We will be responding to Evidence Me Parent Shares each week to see how your child is getting on at home.
Story: Ruby’s Worry, read by Miss St Louis
Here is the link to watch the story.
Activity
Dough Disco; join Miss Cumming to get your fingers working!
Resources: Music and play dough (if you don't have play dough a soft toy, squeezy ball or even a clean pair of socks in a ball will do).
Watch this video with Miss Cumming to join in.
Daily Challenge
Draw a picture of your family.
Adults: You may wish to ask open questions about your child’s drawing. An open question requires more than a yes or no answer, using what, why, when, where, how and who.
For example: What is this part of the drawing? Who is this? Where are they?
Describing what your child is drawing is also a great way to develop their self-confidence, self-esteem and language skills. You may say something like: I can see two blue circles and a long red line. You have spent a lot of time to colour the sun in yellow.
Here are some examples of family drawings:
You can send their drawings in to Evidence Me Parent Share.
Want to find out more about Descriptive praise and how to use it effectively? Follow this link to watch the short NHS EPEC video (from 07:50 minutes in particular).
We are excited to see your child engaging with the learning!
If you have any questions please do get in touch, eyfs@broadford.havering.sch.uk
Kind regards,
The Nursery Team
