EYFS: Parent and Carer Blog; Internet Safety and Havering’s Virtual Library
During this time it can be difficult to know who to speak to about the little things or problems that you as parents and carers face. The aim of these weekly parent and carer blogs is to keep you up to date with additional support and where to find it.
On Tuesday 9th February 2021 it was Safer Internet Day 2021. Celebrated globally with the slogan “Creating an internet we trust”, the day provides a fantastic opportunity to engage with children about their digital lives.
Here you can access a range of resources for parents and carers for Safer Internet Day 2021.
Have you heard about EE’s Lockdown Learning offer?

A message from your local library:
“Although libraries are currently closed there are thousands of e-books your children can access for FREE over the internet from Havering Libraries, children can borrow them for 3 weeks and there aren’t any fines. We have a variety of story books and factual books to read at home plus audio books that are read out loud.” Viv, Havering Outreach Reader Development Librarian.

What are Havering Libraries currently delivering on Facebook?
“For story times, we have a member of our staff doing them online on our facebook page. They are pre-recorded, released every Saturday at 11am and you can view them at any time. We also have ad hoc specials from professional storytellers and we have some coming up in Half term week for Primary school children. We advertise these on Facebook too and also send information around to all the schools.
Every Thursday between 2-3pm, we have some live preschool Zoom sessions, one of them is Baby Bounce which parents with younger siblings may be interested in and we are about to set up a Wiggle and Giggle session for children 2+ years!” Viv, Havering Outreach Reader Development Librarian.
